Can I afford treatment?

I have three high-energy kids. We love going to the park and riding bikes together, but it’s hard for me to keep up with them. I know my varicose veins and spider veins are getting worse because sometimes I can’t even walk the few blocks to the park. And I know I need some kind of treatment, but I really don’t want to go through the same experience as my mom did. I remember varicose vein stripping was very expensive and painful, she spent a lot of time in recovery and they ended up leaving scars. I don’t want treatment that will take away money or my time from my family. I was relieved to learn that insurance can cover treatment for varicose veins.

Is it safe for me?

I developed some varicose veins the first time I was pregnant, but they seemed to get better once I had my baby. Now I’m pregnant again, and my varicose veins have come back, look worse and hurt a lot more. I rest frequently, elevate my legs and wear compression tights to help with the swelling. I thought I should wait until I was done having children before getting treatment, but then I learned that it’s safe to have treatment for vein disease between pregnancies.

I don’t like the way my legs look.

I don’t really have any pain from my spider veins, but I hate the way they look. Over the past few years, it’s gotten to the point that I cringe at the idea of wearing swimsuits or skirts. I don’t wear half the clothes in my closet because I always try to wear things that cover up my spider veins. I scheduled a consultation just to see what could be done to make my legs look better. I didn’t think my legs were unhealthy, but I was surprised when I found out that my legs actually had extensive vein damage I couldn’t see.

My legs hurt.

I used to train for half marathons to stay in shape. But now I’m running shorter and shorter distances because it’s too painful to be on my feet for too long. I didn’t think varicose veins were a problem until the pain in my legs started affecting my day-to-day life.

What’s wrong with my legs?

I have a lot of aching and fatigue in my legs. After a long day on my feet I have to elevate my legs. Both my parents had vein disease, so I started looking into how that might be related to my condition. As I was looking into different treatment options, I was surprised to learn that varicose veins caused this even though I couldn’t see them! When I came for a consultation and they did an ultrasound scan on my legs, I saw that I had a network of diseased veins under the surface of my skin.
