Minimally Invasive Treatment
Dr. Surmak's comprehensive, minimally invasive approach includes ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy as well as endovenous laser treatment (ELT). Neither option requires hospitalization or surgery. Instead, each is performed in the physician's office. You can be back on your feet resuming normal activities the same day.
Prior to joining Vein Clinics of America (VCA), Dr. Surmak held a number of positions in Baltimore, MD, which have included: staff surgeon and interpreter in the non-invasive vascular laboratory at St. Agnes Hospital, head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Division at Carroll County Hospital, Assistant Chief of Surgery at United States Public Health Hospital, Deputy Chief of Surgery at Wyman Park Hospital and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Prior to joining Vein Clinics of America (VCA), Cynthia practiced as a staff RN at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD and Castle Medical Center in Kailua, HI. Most recently she was a staff RN at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR. Upon joining VCA, Cynthia underwent extensive training in Phlebology, the diagnosis and treatment of vein disease and related disorders, and Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy.
