If you didn’t already know it, Vein Clinics of America’s philosophy of patient care is based on complete disease management, from initial screening to treatment and subsequent follow-up. The biggest difference, though, goes beyond our physicians’ ability to treat vein disease itself. They are completely dedicated to making you feel at ease throughout the entire treatment process, and back on your way to a happy, healthy life. While their backgrounds are diverse, the VCA doctors who help you look and feel your best have unique perspectives on the way they approach patient care.

One such doctor is Vein Clinics of America’s own Dr. Domenic Zambuto, MD. We were able to sit down with Dr. Zambuto to understand his history, his view of how Vein Clinics of America approaches vein disease, and how he cares for his patients:

Q: Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you came to Vein Clinics of America?

A: My name is Dr. Domenic Zambuto and I’m a physician at the Canton Connecticut Vein Clinic. Prior to joining Vein Clinics of America, I was director of interventional radiology at Hartford Hospital and with the Jefferson Radiology Group in the Hartford, Connecticut area. It came to my attention that Vein Clinics of America was looking for someone with my credentials and the position was intriguing. It was doing all of the things that I was most interested in pursuing. As things evolved, I really fell in love with what Vein Clinics of America was all about and it made joining the team an easy decision.

Q: Can you elaborate on your radiology experience?

A:  As a diagnostic radiologist and an interventional radiologist, that means I use imaging to do minimally invasive procedures on people. Many years back I got involved in doing some work taking care of venous disease. That field has really exploded in the last 10 years into something that’s really exciting and dynamic.

Q: What do you think makes Vein Clinics of America stand out from the competition?

A: The two big pillars that Vein Clinics of America stand on, are being patient centric and operationally excellent. We are fully focused on what’s right and what’s best for the patients, while operationally we seek to do everything to the highest standard in the most efficient way, so, the patient has a great experience and their needs are met. It’s doing those things that makes us the vein care specialist of choice for patients and referring doctors in the United States. Following patients over their lifetimes becomes really important in the management of vein disease and it’s extremely rare to find that in other practitioners or practices.

Q: We know that vein disease never goes away and that it’s important to stay diligent with how this disease progresses with every patient who comes to VCA for treatment. Is it important to stay vigilant with a patient even after they have initial treatment?

A: At Vein Clinics, it’s a mission critical part of what we do. We know that the long-term care of patients is paramount and we follow our patients over time to make sure that if new vein disease presents itself, we manage it early, and manage it effectively.

In the end, my goal is to do everything in my power to offer a patient the highest quality in diagnosing what’s wrong with them and ultimately fixing it in as a little pain as possible. I want to ensure that patients throughout the healing process know, that in the longer term, this will be one of the best decisions they’ve made.

Q: Let’s say I’m a person looking to come in for a consultation. I’m unsure if I have vein disease or if I need any kind of treatment. What would be the most important piece of information you would want me to know?

A: What I really want them to know about me is that we’re going to take the time with me individually to figure out what’s going on. To really listen and understand your concerns and needs.

I really enjoy being with people and taking care of them. Many people have suffered silently for years. This has been a slowly progressive process. They haven’t even always realized how different things have been for their legs from a comfort point of view. Typically, they’re coming in and saying I can’t believe how light my legs now feel, how all that discomfort, the cramping, the heaviness, the fatigue, it’s gone. It’s great. It’s what really we’re all…what I’m all about and what we do. What I want them to feel is that whatever their problem is that I’m going to take care of it.
