Vein Specialization
Dr. Folstad has extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose vein disease and related disorders. At Vein Clinics of America, he specializes in endovenous radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy and visual sclerotherapy.

He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Folstad completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as Chief Resident.
Prior Experience
Dr. Folstad was an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine, where he served as Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency training program. He was an attending physician in the emergency departments at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, and Huntersville Medical Center in Huntersville NC. He was previously a principal of Carolina Vein Associates in Mooresville, NC.

Dr. Folstad is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is an active member member of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the North Carolina Medical Society.
